This recording happened two weeks into our latest walk. During a busk in Rye, singing to classic-car enthusiasts and Rockabilly dancers, a local chap offered us studio-time. It was not Sir Paul. We accepted nonetheless, and made arrangements.

The next day, waking up in a pub garden,we walked to this fellow's house. We both felt fantastically bad, after much free ale. But more than this, we'd been drinking canal water through a broken filter, guzzling it down enthusiastically. Pondy burps arose.

The recording took two hours. Energy came from the great nowhere, we were twitched on electric strings, forcing stories out to invisible global audiences. Their passage drained us, and we slept long in the slightly mousy chalet loaned to us by our studio donor.

The songs emerged strong and childlike, intense and naive, just as we like them. They are mildly antagonistic, and reflect well our recent discussions of the 3 great Rs: Resistance, Rebellion and Revolution.

We hope you enjoy them, sing them, let them in and give them out.

And if you drink from canals, always use a working filter.

A Walk Around Britain UK

Our names are Ed and Will, and we walk around Britain.

With traffic jams, badger culls, Coldplay, and the future being sold to international investors, it’s easy to think you don’t like Britain.

But deep between the roads are the places we take for granted, and here the secret green heart of Britain beats on.

To these places we journey, with songs as old as seas and copyright-free.
